Interserve Construction have appointed Summit Electrical as the Electrical Contractor for the refurbishment of Aston Webb Block C.
Completed in 1909 the construction of the Aston Webb Building marked the first on the new Universities campus to the south of Birmingham. The original red brick buildings are at the heart of the University's campus and are also important
The Grade II* listed building will undergo a complete transformation whilst keeping a sympathetic approach to the nature of existing building. The redeveloped building will include a large Lecture Theatre, Student Services and Support Hub, Registry, Careers Network and new learning spaces. The building is being transformed to provide a single point of access to services to improve the student experience.
The internal organisation concept provides an open plan workplace with desk space for 200 University staff organised around a central support spine, incorporating cellular spaces such as meetings rooms, offices, storage and other ancillary provision. The scheme of refurbishment also extends out into the corridor of the main building to create a social learning space and a link to the new Bramall building.
The £1.35M Electrical Installation contract will see Summit responsible for the detailed design which also includes Autodesk Revit MEP Engineering model fully co-ordinated with the Mechanical Services Contractor for a complete M&E Services Design and Installation.
The project will commence in March 2014 but will only entail strip-out and enabling works for Summit initially. The main Electrical works will begin in October 2014 with an overall completion for the end of May 2015.
University of Worcester, Electrical Maintenance Contract

Summit Electrical have been awarded the electrical maintenance contract for the University of Worcester.
This continues the strong relationship between UoW and Summit which started following the successful completion of the fast track project Peirson Guidance Centre.
The contract involves a 24 hours and a day, 7 days a week service for the reactive maintenance of electrical installations across all the University’s Campus’s.
As well as the electrical maintenance Summit will assist the University with feasibility exercises and be encouraged to provide competitive tenders for main contractors on the University’s framework for all major projects.
Benugo St Pancras

Marzec Associates have appointed Summit Electrical Installations Ltd as the Electrical Contractor for the New Benugo café fit out within London’s busy St Pancras International Station. Working with Main Contractor Woodcraft Joinery Ltd, Summit are to refurbish the electrical systems comprising of Distribution, Lighting, emergency Lighting and Small Power to a high quality of finish over two phases and within a tight programme, while the shop remains open to the public. Restaurant, café and catering company Benugo, founded in 1998, operates a number of restaurants, cafés and kiosks across London.
